AHRQ report: Where healthcare stands on quality measurement through health IT

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) released a September 2013 report on the status of quality measures being used via health information technology (IT). The report, Health IT-Enabled Quality Measurement, surveyed stakeholders of all types, including consumers, government, measure developers, providers, payers, and health IT vendors. They elicited feedback from these stakeholders through the Request for Information (RFI) and Public Comment section posted in the Federal Registrar. Those respondents, along with coordinated focus group participants, provided a snapshot of where the healthcare industry is and possible ways it can move forward in terms of regulation, data collection, and of course, quality improvement and patient safety through health IT.
