NICU makes improvements to design, care

In 2011, the 311-bed Lucile Packard Children's ­Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., was beginning to use its ­Packard Quality Management System as a methodology for improvement, empowering employees to identify and solve routine work problems, and design and implement better approaches for the work they do. It's meant to be a patient- and family-centered management and improvement system for making work simpler, more effective, and safer in order to make every patient's and family's outcome and experience extraordinary.
